JUST A SMALL BUT MEANINGFUL INFO FM ME TO YOU AND YR FRIENDS...MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF H1N1 SINCE IT PRACTICALLY HIT US LIKE A TIME BOMB.....

My staff was crying herself sick on Tuesday morning...was told that her son was confirmed of H1N1 in his Uni at Kangar, Perlis...worse was that when he was bedridden 2 days the warden didnt even bother to sent to hospital till his dad came fm KL and with his friends assistance brought him to GH Kangar....

No one bothered in the hospital and he was put in the normal ward for another 2 days!!! (imagine the amount of people he has infected!!) .....after 2 days and his eyes were turning yellow and saliva greenish...he was put in quarantined room...

His mom practically fainted just telling me the story.. cant do much cos she does not have enough money to go to the north with the father...

First thing we did was made her call the hospital and insist that they sent him to Sg.Buloh Hospital or any other hospital in KL since they seemed to be more alert and more equipt...they refused of course...so I sent her off to Kangar the same day to solve the problem.

Whilst this was happening, I had a call from one Ustaz who was in town to "help cure" another H1N1 child in Shah Alam....and was told this simple prescription by him.....

EAT MINIMUM 6 GREEN APPLES A DAY AND FRESH ORANGE JUICE
for those with sore throat please blend the apples and keep on taking till your fever disappear and yr symtoms are gone....I cannot explain it but the child in Shah Alam was ok too after taking this tip....

my staff's son was given the apple juice for the whole day on Monday/Tuesday and he was out of the fever yesterday Wednesday... .she called me and was crying on the phone to say that her son was out of ICU and was able to eat normally...all these happened within just 4 days today (thursday 6 august)...

Fake Wasabi Hazardous!

The wasabi we find these days are found to contain many unknown ingredients.
Due to the low supply and high cost of the real wasabi, even wasabi found in
5-star hotels are found to be questionable.
The fake wasabi contains high levels of metals. Though they are within safe
levels of consumption, doctors have advised against consuming too much of
them.
As we were passing through a fish market, we came upon a very strong scent.
We found a lady preparing the wasabi mixture for the raw fish. She told us
that she uses "special wasabi powder" which costs only $50/bag and they can
make up to several hundred bags of wasabi paste. We even found many
restaurants using this special wasabi powder to make the wasabi paste. Why
is the scent so strong and what does it really contain? We continued our
investigations. The conclusion we came to was the fact that there were
special ingredients placed in these "special wasabi powder" even though the
label simply indicates "wasabi and permitted flavoring and coloring."
Experts indicate that the type of wasabi found in Taiwancannot be
freeze-dried and made into powder, so it's very likely that these "special
wasabi powder" have been made artificially.
A chinese chemist Wu Jia Cheng says "the label only says what its basic
ingredients are but will not say what it artificially contains." Our
investigative reporters took the "special wasabi powder" to the lab for
testings. Lab results show the powder contains copper, lead and chromium.
So how are we going to differentiate the real from the fake wasabi? A little
iodine tincture will do the trick.
We found a biochemist who says that "After mixing the wasabi powder to make
the paste, simply place a drop of iodine tincture onto the paste and wait
1-2 mins. If you see the brown iodine tincture changing its color into a
dark blue color, it indicates the presence of starch within the paste. And
within this mixture is the addition of the ingredient "propenyl mustard oil"
to make the fake wasabi."
Fake wasabi gives a bright green appearance and a very strong pungent smell
that will dissipate within 1/2 hr. Real wasabi is of a much lighter green.
A toxicologist warned that long term consumption of this fake wasabi can
lead to liver and kidney damages. We should avoid at all cost to protect
our health.

Persimmon- six must see reminders

1. Persimmons Cannot Be Eaten On An Empty Stomach.

Contains more tannin and pectin, in an empty stomach under the effect of gastric acid, lumps of various sizes will formed, if these lumps can not reach the pyloric intestine, it will remain in the stomach to form gastric persimmon stone. The stone originally is as small as apricots and persimmon seeds, but will tend to get larger. If not naturally expelled from the stomach, it will cause diospyrobezoar the digestive tract obstruction, resulting in upper abdominal pain, vomiting, and even vomiting blood and other symptoms. During surgery, persimmon stone as big as a fist was found in the stomach. If there's food in the stomach then the persimmon stone formation in the stomach can be avoided .

2. Persimmon Skin Should Not Be Eaten

Some people feel that eating persimmon fruit together with the skin taste betten than just eating the flesh by itself. Scientifically this is not advisable because the vast majority of persimmon tannin in concentrated in the skin. If eaten toe gether with its skin the formation of gastric persimmon stone is easier, especially when the astringent process is incomplete, as its skin contains more tannic acid.

3... Do not eat pesimmon together with high-protein crabs, fish, shrimp and other foods

Generally, with an empty stomach, it is advisable that not more than 200 grams of persimmon should be taken.

6. Mouthwash after eating

Persimmon has is high in sugar and contains pectin. After eating persimmon there will be some of the fruits remaining in the mouth, especially in between the teeth. With the acidic properties of the high t annic acid it is easy to cause tooth decay, the formation of dental caries. Therefore after eating persimmons it is advisable to drink some water or to rinse our mouths.

Left Over Onion is Poisonous

LEFT OVER ONION IS POISONOUS

I have used an onion which has been left in the fridge, and sometimes I don't use a whole one at one time, so save the other half for later. Now with this info, I have changed my mind....will buy smaller onions in the future.

I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Mullins is huge, and is owned by 11 brothers and sisters in the Mullins family. My friend, Jeanne, is the CEO.

Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.

The guy who gave us our tour is named Ed. He's one of the brothers. Ed is a chemistry expert and is involved in developing most of the sauce formula. He's even developed sauce formula for McDonald's.

Keep in mind that Ed is a food chemistrywhiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise you. Ed said that all commercially- made Mayo is completely safe.

"It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary.."
He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the quaint essential picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

Ed says that when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim' last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade Mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the onions, and if not the onions, it's the POTATOES.

He explained, onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion. He says it's not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator.

It's already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!)

Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy
you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

So, how's that for news? Take it for what you will. I (the author) am going to be very careful about my onions from now on.
For some reason, I see a lot of credibility coming from a chemist and a company that produces millions of pounds of mayonnaise every year..'

Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions .Please remember it is dangerous to cut onions and try to use it to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and creates Toxic bacteria which may cause Adverse Stomach infectionsbecause of excess Bile secretions and even Food poisoning.

50 Amazingly Helpful Kitchen Tips

You know all of those helpful kitchen-related suggestions that old-timers are so willing to share with the younger generations? These little tips and tricks might be called kitchen hacks these days, but they are still the same good old nuggets of wisdom that they always were.

As with any old wives tale, hack, or tip, your mileage may vary. Some of these gems have been around for several lifetimes - and according to most grandmas, they really work.

1. For cleaning smelly hands after chopping onions or garlic, just rub them on a stainless steel spoon. The steel is supposed to absorb the odor.

2. Fresh coffee beans can also absorb nasty odors from your hands.

3. If you happen to over-salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled potato.
The potato will absorb the excess salt.

4. When boiling eggs, add a pinch of salt to keep the shells from cracking

5. Never put citrus fruits or tomatoes in the fridge. The low temperatures degrade the aroma and flavor of these pernickety fruits.
6. To clean cast iron cookwear, don't use detergents. Just scrub them with salt and a clean, dry paper towel.

7. Will milk curdle if it is allowed to boil? It turns out that this age-old piece of wisdom isn't true, after all. Milk that has been boiled is perfectly safe to consume.

8. To clean an electric kettle with calcium buildup on the heating element, boil a mixture of half white vinegar and half water, then empty.

9. When storing empty airtight containers, throw in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting stinky.

10. If you are making gravy and accidentally burn it, just pour it into a clean pan and continue cooking it. Add sugar a little at a time, tasting as you go to avoid over-sugaring it. The sugar will cancel out the burned taste.

11. Burned a pot of rice? Just place a piece of white bread on top of the rice for 5-10 minutes to draw out the burned flavor. Be careful not to scrape the burned pieces off of the bottom of the pan when serving the rice.

12. Before you chop chili peppers, rub a little vegetable oil into your hands and your skin won't absorb the spicy chilli oil.

13. If you arent sure how fresh your eggs are, place them in about four inches of water. Eggs that stay on the bottom are fresh. If only one end tips up, the egg is less fresh and should be used soon. If it floats, it's past the fresh stage.

14. To banish ants from the kitchen, find out where they are coming in and cover the hole with petroleum jelly. Ants won't trek through the jelly. If they are coming under a door, draw a
line on the floor with chalk. The little bugs also won't cross a line of chalk.

15. Before making popcorn on the stove or in an air popper, soak
the kernels in water for 10 minutes.

Drain the water, then pop as
normal. The additional moisture helps the popcorn pop up quicker and
fluffier with fewer old maids.

16. Dont store your bananas in a bunch or in a fruit bowl with
other fruits.

Separate your bananas and place each in a different location. Bananas release gases which cause fruits (including other bananas) to ripen quickly. Separating them will keep them fresh longer.

17. To keep potatoes from budding in the bag, put an apple in with them.

18. If you manage to have some leftover wine at the end of the evening, freeze it in ice cube trays for easy addition to soups and sauces in the future.

19. To clean crevices and corners in vases and pitchers, fill with water and drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets.

The bubbles will do the scrubbing.

20. After boiling pasta or potatoes, cool the water and use it to water your house plants. The water contains nutrients that your plants will love.

21. When you clean your fish tank, the water you drain can also be used to water your house plants.

The nitrogen and phosphorus in fish droppings make aquarium water a great fertilizer.

22. When defrosting meat from the freezer, pour some vinegar over it.

Not only does it tenderize the meat; it will also bring down the freezing temperature of the meat and cause it to thaw quicker.

23. The substance in onions that causes your eyes to water is located in the root cluster of the onion.

Cut this part out in a cone shape, with the largest part of the cone around the exterior
root section.

24. Taking the top layer off of a onion can also reduce the amount of eye-watering misery.

25. Toothpaste is a great silver cleaner.

26. Baking soda isn't as effective a deodorizer for the fridge as that baking soda company would like you to believe.

Activated charcoal is much better at absorbing fridge and freezer odors.

27. Baking soda is an extremely effective cleaner, though.

Use it with vinegar to deodorize drains and clean stovetops and sinks.

28. A favorite tip of thousands of grandmas: when you nick your
finger while cutting veggies, wait until the bleeding stops and paint
on a layer of clear nail polish. It will keep juices out of the wound and
won't fall off into the spaghetti sauce like a bandage.
29. The jury is still out on what to put in the bag of brown sugar to keep it from going hard:
a slice of apple, a piece of bread, and a shard of a terra cotta pot have all been used.
30. Got a nasty invisible splinter from your kitchen tools? Put a piece of adhesive tape on the area and then pull it off to remove the splinter.
31. When you burn yourself in the kitchen, just spread mustard on the affected area. Leave it for a while and it will ease the pain and prevent blistering.
32. For aluminum pans that are looking dull, just boil some apple peels in them. This will brighten up the aluminum and make your house smell yummy .
33. To keep cookies fresh, savvy grannies like to put some crumpled-up tissue paper in the bottom of the cookie jar.
34. If your salt is clumping up, put a few grains of rice in it to absorb excess moisture.
35. To clean fruit stains off of your fingers, rub them with a fresh, peeled potato. White vinegar can also do the trick.
36. Keep iceberg lettuce fresh in the fridge by wrapping it in a clean, dry paper towel and storing lettuce and paper towel in a sealed baggie in the fridge.
37. If your loaf of bread is starting to go stale, just put a piece of fresh celery in the bag and close it back up.
For some reason, this restores a fresh taste and texture to the bread.
38. Always keep an aloe vera plant in your kitchen.
It's invaluable when you scrape your arm or burn your finger. Just break off a leaf and rub the gel from the inside on the injury.
39. When making a soup, sauce, or casserole that ends up too fatty or greasy, drop in an ice cube.

The ice will attract the fat, which you can then scoop out.

40. To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever was cooked in the oil previously, cook a ¼ piece of ginger in the oil.

It will remove any remaining flavors and odors.

41. If your milk always goes bad before you can finish it, try adding a pinch of salt to the carton when you first open it.

It will stay fresh days longer.

42. Water that has been boiled and allowed to cool will freeze faster than water from the tap.

This comes in handy when you're having a party and need ice pronto.

43. Remove tea or coffee stains from your fine china by mixing up a paste of baking soda, lemon juice, and cream of tartar.

Rub it over the stains and they will come off easily.

44. If two drinking glasses become stuck together after stacking, it's not impossible to unstick them.

Just put ice in the inner glass and dunk the outer glass in warm water. The warm glass will expand and the cold glass will contract, making the glasses separate easily.

45. For splinters under the fingernail, soaking the affected finger in a bowl of milk with a piece of bread in it is said to draw out the splinter.

46. Did grandpa ever give you a drink of cola for an upset tummy?

It turns out that this is actually a pretty effective remedy. The sugar and carbonation can soothe many tummy problems - but it can also exacerbate others.

47. Putting salty bacon on a boil is said to draw the poison out of boils.

Steamed Orange for Cough

This method had been tested by many people. One of the best methods to stop cough.

Cut off the top part of the orange, put some salt into the orange, and put back the top part. Steam it 10 minutes and eat all the fresh including the juice at the bottom of the bowl. Taste not very nice but cures your prolonged cough in days.

咳足咗二個星期，個喉嚨痕到不得了，一向都係寒底的我，以為今次又係寒咳啦，咁就煲咗啲薑茶飲，不過都冇效，
公司有個同事教我一個老人家祕方，就係『燉橙』喇。

以前我都有聽說過燉橙係得的，不過係加川貝，原來川貝燉橙只係比熱咳的人飲的，寒咳就不能喝，但燉橙加鹽就寒咳或熱咳也可。

個橙開小小頂, 界十字 Cut off a little shelf of top.

加半茶匙鹽 Add ½ teaspoon of salt

放入碗內隔水蒸20分鐘 Place in a bowl and steam it 20 minute

食哂個橙的肉 Finish it

最重要就係飲哂碗底的水, (都幾難飲- 因又咸又苦)
Don’t forget to finish the water left in the bowl. Its taste sour and salty, good for cure.

但如果你咳到冇哂辨法又瞓唔到 - 試吓喇!

Cinnamon and Honey
Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey.. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing" . When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around. Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. For years, I've been telling my patients that the medical establishment' s obsession with lowering cholesterol to prevent heart disease is causing more harm than good.

If your doctor continues to get you worried about your high cholesterol levels, here's a bit of news for you...

In fact, your high cholesterol may be protecting you from cancer.

Today, I'll explain the truth behind the myth of cholesterol, and show you how to achieve heart health naturally.

A new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology revealed that driving down cholesterol levels actually increases the risk of cancer.

Researchers at the Tufts University School of Medicine found that among people taking "statin" drugs - like Lipitor and Zocor - there was a higher rate of cancer. Although the link between the drugs and cancer wasn't clear, there was no doubt that drastically low cholesterol levels correlated to cancer risk.

The big drug makers continue to sell the notion that the best way to fight heart disease is to lower LDL levels, the so-called "bad" cholesterol.

Yet 75 percent of people who suffer heart attacks have normal cholesterol levels.

It makes sense that low cholesterol levels are linked to cancer because cholesterol is one of your body's basic building blocks. You need it to produce testosterone, to build and repair cell membranes, and to preserve your nerve cells through the formation of the protective "sheaths" that cover them.

Starving your body of this critical substance will lead to other health problems. We already know that extremely low cholesterol levels result in muscle weakness, fatigue, depression, decreased sex drive, and "brain fog." This new research shows that there may be even more deadly consequences.

What really matters is not low "bad" cholesterol, but high levels of HDL, the so-called "good" cholesterol. As long as you have a high HDL count - 75 to 80, for example - it doesn't matter whether your total cholesterol is 150 or 350. A high HDL will always keep your risk of heart disease extremely low.

I learned that sticker labels on the fruits actually tell you how the fruits have been grown and whether they were organically grown or conventionally grown with pesticides and herbicides; oh, and let's not forget about the genetically engineered fruits.

The Shell Oil Company recently issued a warning after three incidents in which mobile phones (cell phones) ignited fumes during fueling operations

In the first case, the phone was placed on the car's trunk lid during fueling; it rang and the ensuing fire destroyed the car and the gasoline pump.

In the second, an individual suffered severe burns to their face when fumes ignited as they answered a call while refueling their car!

And in the third, an individual suffered burns to the thigh and groin as fumes ignited when the phone, which was in their pocket, rang while they were fueling their car.

You should know that: Mobile Phones can ignite fuel or fumes

Mobile phones that light up when switched on or when they ring release enough energy to provide a spark for ignition

Mobile phones should not be used in filling stations, or when fueling lawn mowers, boat, etc.

Mobile phones should not be used, or should be turned off, around other materials that generate flammable or explosive fumes or dust, (I..e., solvents, chemicals, gases, grain dust, etc...)

TO sum it up, here are the Four Rules for Safe Refueling:
1) Turn off engine
2) Don't smoke

Bob Renkes of Petroleum Equipment Institute is working on a campaign to try and make people aware of fires as a result of 'static electricity' at gas pumps. His company has researched 150 cases of these fires.

His results were very surprising:
1) Out of 150 cases, almost all of them were women.
2) Almost all cases involved the person getting back in their vehicle while the nozzle was still pumping gas. When finished, they went back to pull the nozzle out and the fire started, as a result of static.
3) Most had on rubber-soled shoes.
4) Most men never get back in their vehicle until completely finished. This is why they are seldom involved in these types of fires.
5) Don't ever use cell phones when pumping gas
6) It is the vapors that come out of the gas that cause the fire, when connected with static charges.
7) There were 29 fires where the vehicle was re-entered and the nozzle was touched during refueling from a variety of makes and models. Some resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, to the station, and to the customer.
8) Seventeen fires occurred before, during or immediately after the gas cap was removed and before fueling began..

Mr. Renkes stresses to NEVER get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas.
If you absolutely HAVE to get in your vehicle while the gas is pumping, make sure you get out, close the door TOUCHING THE METAL, before you ever pull the nozzle out. This way the static from your body will be discharged before you ever remove the nozzle.

As I mentioned earlier, The Petroleum Equipment Institute, along with several other companies now, are really trying to make the public aware of this danger.

LEMON CHICKEN BREAST (Must Try!)

I saw this recipe for a lemon chicken breast that looked really good. I thought I would share it with others who are forced into the kitchen a few times a week.

Ingredients:

1 whole chicken
1 large lemon, cut into halves
Sprig of rosemary
Salt and pepper to taste
Butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer

Heat oven to 350 degrees

Rub butter or oil over the skin of the chicken until it is completely coated

Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat;

Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up. This way the juice from the lemon will coat the breast. Season skin of chicken to your preference, place sprig of rosemary into the chicken.

Cover and place in oven for 30-45 minutes. Remove cover and continue to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the bird.

If you've followed these steps correctly, your chicken should look like the one in the picture.

Ladies, be alert. It is happening in Penang !!!

I used to receive forwarded emails regarding incidents of being 'disturbed' by a fake policeman but I don't really believe that until i met one last saturday .
It was 8.30am when I was driving at Jln Ayer Itam. I noticed a motorbike following me closely. Of course I didnt suspect anything bcos that is the main road to town. However, at the Mobil petrol station, b4 SRJK Shang Wu, I turned left to Tmn Lumba Kuda & he followed.

This time he was riding the motorbike on my right & took out his handcuff and kept saying "Saya polis". I ignored him. Then at the tmn lumba kuda housing area he overtook my car & stopped his motorbike infront on me.
I stopped & waited till he got down from his bike then I drove off again. Unfortunately, we met again at the tuffclub traffic light. This time, he kept knocking at my window and asking me to co me out from my car. He also showed me a so called police ID card without photo or logo.

I'm very sure that he is not a genuine policeman. Even if he is a real one, and if I did break any traffic rules , he can just send me a summon without needing me to get down from my car. So, I decided go drive to police station. He followed me till a few hundreds metre b4 I turned to the police station.
He is a medium size Malay guy, abt 165-170cm height. Riding Modenas Kriss 100 , PGN 74.
p/s: A REAL policeman ID card is light yellow in color with Logo & the word "polis diraja malaysia " in front. At the back, there will be a passport size photo, name & matriks number .
Hope this thing wont happen again and wont happen to any of you as well.

NEVER LEAVE UR LOVED 1 IN CAR PARK (MUST READ)

Dear Friends,

I would like to share a life saving incident that all our
loved ones needs to be aware.

Last Saturday, 11th April 2009, my girlfriend and
I were in Mid Valley “The Gardens” for a movie. We finished around
8.40pm. I had parked my car just right above the ‘GSC Signature
Cinema’ on the 5th floor.. As we were getting into our car, we realized that
the parking fee had not been paid. We decided to stop by the Auto pay
station on the lower parking level to do the payment.

We drove 2 floors down and couldn’t locate the
Auto Pay Station. We decided to park our car at 2nd floor wondering if there
should be a pay station in the mall at the lobby area. My girlfriend
decided to wait in the car as she was on the phone. was walking into the
mall looking for an Auto Pay Station, failing to find one, I decided to
walk 1 floor down. About minutes time, my girlfriend called me on my mobile
phone and she sounded terrified . She was shouting for help. She told
me that there is a guy who is trying to get into the car. The guy was
trying to get into the car very calmly, pretending getting into his own car.
He failed to open and refuses to continue trying as he noticed that
she was on the phone calling for help. Luckily, she had locked the door
just right after I got out earlier. I run up as quickly as possible to
reach her.
The moment I reached to the parking area, I saw the guy
walking away slowly from the car. He was walking towards the ramp
heading to the upper level. As I ran up the ramp, though I could still see him
I realized that I was running away from my car again. It could be
teamwork just to divert my presence from my car. I got back to my girlfriend
quickly to calm her down.

We made an official report to the Mid Valley security
management to investigate on the CCTV. It was a lesson learned for us
to be more careful in the parking zones. I’m happy that my
girlfriend is still here with me today. Please be watchful in parking zones.

Tips that we should be aware:

Never leave valuable items or your family members alone
in the car at parking location.

We have all been kept awake by our own or someone else's cough. Try this and pass it on make sure pass the tip only not the cough hehehe.

ANYTHING is better than antibiotics. Even babies could benefit from this and the parents wouldn't worry about the safety of their child. And of course, it is harmless and free from any type of side-effects.

WOW! I was raised, and raised my kids with Vicks Vapor Rub. How come I never knew this? I can't wait for my next cough. Amazing!

READ IT ALL. It works 100 percent of the time, although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.

Treatment:

To stop night time coughing for a child (or an adult, as! we found out personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. This works 100 percent of the time, and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago, and it worked 100 percent! She said it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her. The coughing stopped in a few minutes, ! and believe me this was a deep (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds, uncontrollable cough and she slept cough-free for hours every night she used it.

Friends, Thanks to media hype about H1N1, I've received calls from several who trust me, to advise. The hype in media about the utility of face masks and N95 as a tool for general protection against H1N1 can't be deplored enough. Today, a friend who listened wanted me to write down briefly what I advised so that he could tell others in similar words. Hence this short email to friends whom I have advised recently.. Please realize that this is not an official advice, especially the one about face masks or N95. Most N95 respirators are designed to filter 95% particulates of 0.3µ, while the size of H1N1 virus is about 0.1µ. Hence, dependence on N95 to protect against H1N1 is like protecting against rain with an umbrella made of mosquito net. Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation. H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tracts and proliferates (only) there.. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not the problem but proliferation is. While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps - not fully highlighted in most official communications - can be practised (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu): 1. Hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications) 2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap). 3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method. 4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Sutra Neti (a very good Yoga asana to clean the nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population. Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents your office staff, your friend, everyone you meet.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It should go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around...

After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there ....

This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any other emergencies, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. eg: A lady has suggested to her elderly husband that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Coconut Water can prevent H1N1

Former associate professor of ecology at Universiti Malaya has authored several books on complementary therapy called, 'Ecological Healing System'.

Dr Palaniappan said his 33 years of research had shown that high acidity in the body resulted in loss of immunity, thus making people more susceptible to viral diseases like Influenza A (H1N1).

Hence, to prevent acidity, it was essential to consume alkaline food and drinks that could neutralise excess acid in the body.

Dr Palaniappan recommends coconut water, which is alkaline, and therefore could be used as a herbal medicine for the prevention of H1N1.

For example, he said, those who felt feverish and developed a burning sensation while attending to a call of nature because of extreme acidity, could neutralise it by drinking coconut water, twice a day, for three days.

He also recommended orange, lemon and pomelo which, despite containing citric acid, were very rich in potassium and therefore, would not disturb the body's immunity.

According to Dr Palaniappan, excessive physical activity like running a marathon should be avoided as it produced acid due to excessive metabolic activity.

Similarly, he said, keeping late nights without adequate sleep and working without proper rest could also increase the body's acidity which in turn, lowered immunity and made the body vulnerable to viral attacks.

我友人的女儿就读林国荣大学（Limkokwing University），她在就读该间大学期间遭受一名博茨瓦纳学生绑架，这名非洲学生今年37岁。

他的女儿在被绑架后成功逃脱，可是她在被禁锢期间被该名男子被强暴、殴打，捆绑已经拳击。这个禽兽甚至唆使他的非洲朋友（也是博茨瓦纳学生）强暴他的女儿。目前他的女儿还未复原。

因为这宗事件，我向就读林国荣大学的学生们进行调查，发现在这两年间有比上述事件更加严重的事发生。请阅读后流布这宗新闻。这不是谣言，请相信我，您可以亲自询问任何一位林国荣大学的学生！

我感到不满的是这些事件都被林国荣大学的校长丹斯里林国荣掩盖掉了。

一下问题涵盖了博茨瓦纳学生的问题（非洲黑人）：

１.他们在大学厕所内吸食毒品并遭到保安人员抓获。可是大学校长警告保安人员不要把这件事说出去。

２.他们在大学活动中服用毒品，特别是学会和科系所主办的迎新晚会中。讲师们注意到这个情况并企图阻止他们，可是他们惯常使用同一个理由来反驳讲师：「你他妈的是谁！我们付钱给丹斯里林国荣，丹斯里付钱给你，你给我闭嘴！」

3.他们常喝醉酒。照成赛柏再也（Cyberjaya）的多宗交通意外事故（太多交通意外了，您可以查询附近的警局。）

4.他们在所居住的宿舍中收藏毒品，地点就在蒂沙丽雅花园（Desa Ria），他们甚至将毒品带往教师。在蒂沙丽雅的大学派对中，他们食用毒品和酒精（林国荣的女儿当时也在场）。

5.他们骚扰女学生，特别是马来和华裔学生。他们在没有获得允许的情况下，把对方的手机拿走并使用（也就是强夺别人的物件）。女生们非常恐惧，可是她们却保持沉默，因为她们不晓得这些博茨瓦纳学生（非洲人）会对她们做出什么事。

6. 在一个拥有70%博茨瓦纳学生的班上，他们不注意听讲，而且在课室中制造喧哗，并且干扰本地学生。他们甚至在班上争吵（不止一次），当本地学生要求他们肃静的时候，结果打起架来。讲师企图阻止这些博茨瓦纳学生，可是，再次的他们回应同样的一句话：「你他妈的是谁！我们付钱给丹斯林国荣，丹斯里付钱给你，你给我闭嘴！」

7.他们很喜欢性骚扰女学生。这种事无需太多解释，问问学生们吧！

8.他们不交功课，或是迟交，可是却能够及格！重点是如果这些人可以及格，我在想那是什么样的水准？他们可以重复的不及格再重考。这是什么大学教学方针呢？是否他们（非洲黑人）政府给了林国荣大学大笔钱，因此他们可以很轻易的获得及格？他们甚至连讲师的指导，那他们是如何能够及格的？

9.他们甚至无理对待讲师，可是讲师都忍气吞声。

10...他们刮花讲师的车子。

11.当他们无法插队时，他们在大众面前公然侮辱学生辅导。

12.他们强迫女学生提供她们的联络号码。

13.他们每晚集合在宿舍外喝个烂醉。

14.他们绑架我朋友的女儿！

15.他们利用林国荣和该大学副校长的名誉掩护他们的丑行。林国荣和该大学副校长知道这件事，可是却任由事件的发生。

我希望您能够把这个消息传播出去，我也希望能够有人想高教部发出请愿，要求有关部门关注马来西亚的非洲学生的招收问题，特别是在林国荣大学。赛柏再也的犯罪率急速飙升，我确定这些非洲学生所带来的破坏。

如果您不相信，您可以询问任何一位在林国荣大学就读的学生，以及询问他们非洲学生的态度如何！林国荣大学黑暗的一面给遮盖了，请采取严厉行动对付这些目无法纪的非洲人，请即刻报案，切勿畏惧！至少我们可以阻止他们伤害我们的孩子！

This is true and all happened within these two years!

I have a friend's daughter who is studying in Limkokwing University , and she was kidnapped by a Botswana student studying there as well. The African is 37 years old!

The daughter was kidnapped and managed to escape from that African. However, she had been raped, beaten, tied up and punched by the man.
That bastard even got his African friends ( Botswana students too) to rape the daughter. Now the daughter is in trauma.

Because of this case, I have investigated amongst the Limkokwing students, and there are more serious cases that had been happening within these two years. Please read and spread the news to your friends, it's not rumours. Trust me, or you may ask any of the Limkokwing students!

I am sad as it is all covered up by the Limkokwing's president - Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.

The covered issues about Botswana students (African black):

(1) They take drugs in the University toilet and had been caught by security guard. However the president warned the guard not to spread the news.

(2) They take drugs in the university's event, especially in the Orientation night organized by the students' society and faculty. The lecturers saw the incident and they tried to stop, but they like to use the same sentence too against the lecturers: 'who the f*ck you are, we paid to Tan Sri and Tan Sri paid you, just shut up!'

(3) They get drunk and many accidents happened in Cyberjaya (too many accidents, you can check with the police station)

(4) They keep drugs in their apartments, i.e. Desa Ria, and even bring drugs to class. In the University party in Desa Ria, they took drugs and alcohol (Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing's daughter was there too).

(5) They disturb the female students, especially the Malay and Chinese students. They just take away and use their handphones without asking for permission (means they just grab!). The girls always feel scared and just keep silent as they do not know what the Botswana students (Africans) will do to them.

(6) There are classes in which of the students' population is 70% Botswana students. They do not pay attention and cannot keep quiet in the class and the local students are disturbed by them. They even argue in the classes (not only once) when the male local students asked them to shut up, end up they fight. Lecturers tried to stop the Botswana students, again, they showed the same respond 'who the f*ck you are, we paid to Tan Sri and Tan Sri paid you, just shut up!'

(7) They love to sexually harass the female students. This statement needs no further explanation! Ask the students!

(8) They do not submit assignments and are late in submitting assignments, but still pass! The concern is they still pass! What kind of quality I wonder? They deserve to repeat and fail. Is it the University policy? Their (African) government paid more to Limkokwing University , so they can pass easily? They don't even follow the lecturers' guideline, how they can pass?

(9) They even act rude to the lecturers... The lecturers just keep quiet.

(10) They scratched the lecturers' cars..

(11) They insulted the students' counsellor in front of the crowd when they not managed to cut queue.

(12) They forced the female students to give their contact numbers.

(13) They gather at their hostel every night and get drunk.

(14) They kidnapped my friend's daughter!

(15) They used Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing's and the vice president's names to cover their ugliness, of which Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and the vice president knows! They allowed this to happen.

I hope you help to spread the news and I hope there will be a petition to ask the Higher Ministry of Education to look into the African tudents' recruitment in Malaysia , especially Limkokwing University . It is already the hell of crime in Cyberjaya.. I am sure the African students bring harm.

If you do not believe, you can ask anyone of the Limkokwing students, and ask them how is the African students' attitude! The dark side of Limkokwing University is all covered up. Please take serious action and discipline the Africans ( Botswana students). Just lodge the police report and do not feel fear! At least we stop them bring harm to our children!

From someone who had a bad encountered experience

I cannot stop myself from sharing this with all of you.
Its all started when I received a call from someone claimed that he was Maxis asking me to shutdown phone for 2 hours for 3g update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question any shutdown my cell phone.
After 45 minutes I feel very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on back my cell phone back and I received several numbers of call; few numbers from my family members and the other numbers was from the number that call me before; 3954380.
I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worry asking me whether I am safe. My parents told me that they received a call from someone claimed that they have me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard my voice crying out loud asking for help. My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asking them to lodge a police report.
Right after that I received again call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which this time I refused to do so and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery run down. I myself lodge a police report and was informed by the officer that this kind of scam always reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money. Bank can only returned back the money if the owners of the account agree to do so or there is a court order.
Guys, be careful that this kind of scam might happened to any of us!!!
Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you asked to shutdown your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND! Your friend should receive the same call.
Any Customer Service should introduce their NAME AT THE BEGINNING of the call. Ignore them if you don't get a name at the beginning of the call. If you received instructions from unrecognized number/person that you are not sure, make your own judgment. The BEST is DO NOT RESPONSE.
If you cannot pickup your loved one's call, DO GIVE A CALLBACK immediately! Update your loved one with ALTERNATE CONTACT wherever you are

Blacklist - most dangerous companies in Malaysia In addition to the recent highlight by the mass media, here is some good compilation of suspicious business scams.
1. The Cafe Scams - Island Red Cafe & Stevens Corner
(strange, both in Pandan Indah) - Island Red Cafe collects members RM6,000 each and promised 5% return every month and even give you a name in the ROC as a shareholder but what's the point when they run away? Stevens Corner, the famous Indian coffee shop follows due to drop of business since their renovation. They collect RM3,000 per member and promise return of RM150 monthly and plans to open nice fanchisee cafe called StevensTeaGarden.. Someone mentioned they will make you sign an agreement that give them the rights NOT to pay you anything in future. If you really wish to join, ask for a copy of their agreement and consult your lawyer BEFORE paying them. Bet you will NOT get a copy. Both collect monies from new members with MLM recruitment schemes and pay the old members like Sunshine Empire. You never know when they will run away.
2. Sunshine Empire
This licensed and legal Company has an impressive office at the ground level of KUB building along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, near Menara Public Bank and AmBank Building . They also have a showroom office at the ground level in the next building. 3 or 4 months ago, Singapore 's Straits Times and The Paper published big news reminding their people to be careful and NOT to believe in them. Hope someone can put up the link or google for it.(As expected, they STOPPED paying back members now and all investors LOST their money).

Someone below has put a link to the Singapore news. In fact there are more to it. Although Singapore is investigating them, they did not stop their business as the business is legal and so far, no Singaporean has failed to receive their commissions as promised. Thus, the government cannot stop them yet. The news published that the founder, director and group president is someone named James Phang but he is NOT the owner. Isn't this quite strange ? At the end of the game, James Phang can just disappear from the Company easily and claimed that he was just "employed". Such trick always happened in scam businesses. Now, the Company has STOPPED paying commissions and interests to members with the excuse that the Singapore government has freezed their bank account while under investigation. Do you think their boss will be so stupid to keep much monies in the bank to be freezed? They are all transfered away. It's just an excuses not to pay back to members and members are only paid "e-bonus-points" which is cashless. If they wish to convert to cash, they have to recruit new members to pay them cash and the recruiter less out trom the amount.. So victims act like Vampires and "forced" to victimise other victims if they wish to get their monies back. And their victims will later transform to vampires and the scam carries on…..
3. MobilWallet
This Company owned by 2 young men, Stanley & Rey Gan, office in Queens Avenue Park has collect multi-millions the last 2 years. Claimed that they tied up with Telekoms, Utility Board payment like Water & Electricity bills, even Maybank got fooled by them. Advertisement Billboards everywhere. They STOPPED paying back their members few months ago and the members cannot do anything because they are made to sign an agreement unaware that they have to claims if the company stopped paying them by CHANGING terms and policies.
4. Water Business - Oxygenated and Alkaline Water Products
Some of these are bottled water and some are filters or equipment that claimed the trick.
One of the better known Company that sold "oxygen" water is SITO (supposed to stand for Selangor International Trading Organiszation and claimed Selangor State Government owned some share in it). The key person and founder is a Dato Robert Ong from Rawang but his name is no longer in the business now. Their products are sold for RM2 to RM3 for a 350ml bottle and now concentrating mostly in the Indian market. Their Chinese and Malays market are long gone since a year or 2 ago. Their customers are made to believe that their water has more oxygen and able to give miraculous effects for the body. Water is H2O, how to put more O into it ? Anyone knows how much oxygen do we breathe into our body everyday at FOC? Latest news is that this SITO Company is going to create new label to market under a new Company since the SITO name has already gone bad. Someone informed that this Company is owing a lot of money (due to refunds) to ex-stockists but just refuse to pay them. (Latest news, SITO shifted to another place and their MLM business has closed but planning to start again with a different name, beware!!)

Alkaline Products - Can anyone explain how it can work for the body? The stomach's gastric liquid is so acidic that water of any pH that goes through it will not make any difference.
5. Car Fuel Booster - K-Link
K-Link, the famous scam MLM Company that sold the footpatch TAKARA, later the "cock-ring" and energy-card launched the patrol-saving pills last year. Got so hot that even grocery shops are selling for them. Recently many of these cars that used the pills are rushing to the workshops to clean the residual. Few months ago, another MLM Company launched a fuel booster gadget, claimed that saves up to 20% fuel that is attached to the cigarette lighter. Started off well using binary plan but business begin to fade now and most users find it NOT effective.
6. Perfumery Products
(e.g. Lampe Berger & Bel Air) (more details later). Lampe Berger is not so hot now in the neighboring countries but there are still new victims every month in Malaysia . Must thanks to those who have contributed and kept the thread alive here in Kopitiam. Bel-Air has closed in Malaysia . LB is almost zero in Singapore . This perfumery product from France with over 100 years’ history is just bottles and fragrance (check the factory's website) but the Company marketing them in Asia claimed "aromatheraphy" products. Hong Kong TVB aired a program that exposed their scam but their members claimed that HK's TVB already apologized to them. Note that the biggest strength in a MLM Scam is their members will go all way out to lie in order to defend for their Company. The reason is simple; these members fear that they will not be able to make their money back if the Company collapsed. Knowing that the Lampe Berger products are moving slow, they add a line of skincare products named Estebel also claimed to have over 100 years history in France. (Hardly anymore Chinese newcomers, they are now tapping the Malays in Malaysia .)
7. Energy Products
(e..g. stone pendants, bracelets, mattress and pillows). They use all sorts of gimmicks and demonstration to make you into believing them. They will do some tricks and demo to prove that these products really produce energy BUT is there any tricks in their demo? So what if there really produce energy; is it good or strong enough to help the body? The effect is actually PLACEBO which I will elaborate in a new thread soon. (More details later.)
8.. Hi-Tech Products
Names like bio-tech, nano-tech that claimed millions of dollars of research involved, e.g. Bio-Young and XKL few years ago. Most of these will claimed a professor behind them (even with name and picture of a person) or used words like "U.S.A. formula", "German Technology" or "Nanotechnology" and no further details (more details later). If you ask for more details like the professor or factory's address, the answer will be "trade secrets".
9. Investment Schemes
SWISSCASH is the King of all. Swisscash is nearly over now but there are many similar and smaller ones that are still on. (Now, it's closed or stopped paying back members.)
10. GoldQuest
This Company that claimed to be HK-based started with some non-value gold-plated coins that are sold for over RM2,000 have several names and changed products several times. QuestVacation, QuestNet, etc. They have several offices in Amcorp Mall, PJ and their key person (in fact, the owner), a Malaysian Indian was arrested last year in Indonesia for having involved in a very big Philippines scam. Most of their overseas offices are closed or inactive but their Malaysia business is still hot, with some "energy" products. (Can someone please provide a link which showed the news that their boss was involved in a big scam in Philippines and was arrested in last year?)
11. Numerogy & Fortune Telling
A Company named Visible is using MLM to sell fortune telling classes using your birthday based on numerology fortune telling. Prospects will be told that they need to buy a certain "number" between 1 to 9 in the form of pendants or bracelets made of stainless steel and sold from RM600 to RM20,000. Customers or rather victims are mostly females from rural areas. Very hot in Penang now and a number of spin-off Companies have started.
12. MJ - Life
MJ-Life - This Company boost of a very big background with many many years of history which is NOT true. New members are told to pay a sum of money (up to RM1000) and you get NOTHING for it. You only get a membership can entitle you to enjoy all sorts of special price and discounts when you have medical check-ups in their centres. They will claim all those check-ups cost more if done elsewhere. It's not true. Only the naive and those new to medical check-ups will fall victims to them. Most members who paid the money ended up with nothing.
13. Seaweed Venture Scams
1 such Company is located in Taman Maluri, Cheras. They will ask you to invest a few thousands ringgits for their venture of growing seaweeds in East Malaysia and you are guaranteed returns. To gain your confidence further, they will tell you your investment money is secured by "insurance" or "unit trusts" & "trustees". When you ask for further documents to prove, they will give all sorts of excuses or just ignore you because they know they cannot get you. These Seaweed scam is one of the hottest now, warn all your friends about it before they are victimised.

14. MXM (Previously MGM)
This is a master scam among the younger group, very successful 2 or 3 years ago but since there moved to their big 10-storey office at Phileo Damansara and changed name to MXM, their business dropped. They collect members RM3,000 to RM4,000 with credit card monthly easy payment and in return you get a hospital benefits insurance from Pacific Insurance worth only a few hundred RMs together with some you-don't-need medical check-ups from their associate Company Pathlab. Also talk about fitness, lifestyles bullshit that is all worthless.
15. Gano Excel
This company from the north, a copycat of DXN selling Lingzhi capsules created a new Company called Gano iTouch to cash-in on the internet like e-Cosway after their Company went down the drain since the last 2 years, selling Linzhi and some no-value energy pendants and alkaline water gadgets. They provide free transport every weekend from KL to visit their Alor Star office.
16. NuLife (HK)
This Company started by some HK people has been in Malaysia for more than 10 years but they have flopped in HK and Malaysia due to bad management and a product scam making use of a prosecuted American named Dr Jeffrey Bland, found guilty of false products claim. Since this case in the US leaked out and many Malaysians found out that the real boss in HK is a Steven Tang (he cheated many Malaysians in another scheme about 20 years ago) their business went down all the way. Now they claim Malaysian partners cheated them and start a new Company in Malaysia . Watch out, this new Company will come out with some investment scheme idea that will get many to lose their money.
17. Arowana Fish Breeding
Oora from Germany , Biofuel(Kompleks Maluri), etc - These are some newer scams. Arowana fish venture ask you to invest some money and give you fixed return. Biofuel will tell you their Indonesia connections (just like Sunshine Empire before using Taiwan) & Oora from Germany(I never trust those cruel Germans) that market some bio-chips and a gadget that claims to give energy and therapeutic effects of accupunture, tai-chi, yoga, etc depending how you set the toy-like gadget, wear it on your body and you get the effect later.
They could not explain or provide any demonstration to prove their effectiveness. Only doctors and papers claim that I will never trust. The health effect is actually PLACEBO, which I will elaborate in a different thread.

The Bridge and a Bear (True Story)

A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge (Old Hwy 40) at Donner Summit, Truckee) on Saturday when two cars also crossing the bridge scared the bear into jumping over the edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge (see unbelievable photo, above) and pulled itself to safety. Authorities decided
that nothing could be done to help Saturday night so they returned Sunday
morning to find the bear sound asleep on the ledge.

After securing a net under the bridge the bear was tranquilized, fell into the net, lowered, then woke up and walked out of the net.

There is a moral to this story you know.
This old bear made a wrong move and found he was hanging by his nails.
Somehow he was able to pull himself up onto the ledge where he saw he was in a very bad, impossible
situation and what did he do?
Yep, he took a nap and sure enough the situation took care of itself while he was asleep.

The moral is that when confronted with a bad situation sometimes the best solution is . . .
take a nap.

Boeing is preparing a 1000 passenger jet that could reshape the Air travel industry for the next 100 years. The radical Blended Wing design has been developed by Boeing in cooperation with the NASA Langley Research Center ...the mammoth plane will have a wing span of 265 feet compared to the 747's 211 feet, and is designed to fit within the newly created terminals used for the 555-seat Airbus A380, which is 262 feet wide.

The new 797 is in direct response to the Airbus A380 which has racked up 159 orders, but has not yet flown any passengers. Boeing decide to kill its 747X stretched super jumbo in 2003 after little interest was shown by airline companies, but has continued to develop the ultimate Airbus Crusher 797 for years at its Phantom Works research facility in Long Beach , Calif.

The Airbus A380 has been in the works since 1999 and has accumulated $13 billion in development costs, which gives Boeing a huge advantage now that Airbus has committed to the older style tubular aircraft for decades to come.

There are several big advantages to the blended wing design, the most important being the lift to drag ratio which is expected to increase by an amazing 50%, with overall weight reduced by 25%, making it an estimated 33% more efficient than the A380, and making Airbus's $13 billion dollar investment look pretty shaky.

High body rigidity is another key factor in blended wing aircraft. It reduces Turbulence and creates less stress on the air frame which adds to efficiency, Giving the 797 a tremendous 8,800 nautical mile range with its 1,000 passengers Flying comfortably at mach 0.88 or 654 mph (+-1046km/h) cruising speed.

Another advantage over the Airbus tube-and-wing designed A380's 570 mph (912 km/h). The exact date for introduction is unclear, yet the battle lines are clearly drawn In the high-stakes war for civilian air supremacy. What an amazing thing!

Oh, this sounds so disgusting, but you must read it!

I ordered a Club Sandwich and a Sprite in a restaurant somewhere in Malaysia. When I finished half of the sandwich I sipped a sprite. But it didnt taste like an ordinary sprite I used to drink. So I sipped once more, but it still tasted the same. It tasted like a sprite mixed with some kind of oil. I called the clerk and asked him if the sprite was expired……..He said it was just delivered today. So I asked him to taste it. Then he also found that something was wrong with it.

HORRIBLE STORY !!

Both of us were wondering for a while. Then I got to look inside the straw. There were a lot of tiny black round things that looked like eggs. So I cut the middle of the straw lengthwise to have a better look... Yuck. There were a lot of tiny black round things in it. I suppose they were eggs of cockroach. About 1000 eggs were there.

Then I began to check all the other straws in the straws case one by one. Almost all of them contained black eggs that seemed to be either the cockroach eggs or excretions. After the incident, I began to check all the straws in the restaurants and fast food chains.

Almost of all the straws contained the same black eggs. Especially the darker the colors of straws, the more were the eggs. In black straws, extreme amount of black eggs were found. It was found out that it's because the cockroaches live (hatch eggs and excrete) in the dark places.

***80% or more restaurants in the malls use red or black colored straws.***

Hurricane Katrina and wanted to rebuild.
He was told the loan would be granted if he could prove satisfactory title
to the parcel of property being offered as collateral. The title to the
property dated back to 1803, and took the Lawyer three months to track down.

After sending the information to the FHA, he received the following reply.

(Actual letter):

"Upon review of your letter adjoining your client's loan application, we
note that the request is supported by an Abstract of Title. While we
compliment the able manner in which you have prepared and presented the
application, we must point out that you have only cleared title to the
proposed collateral property back to 1803. Before final approval can be
accorded, it will be necessary to clear the title back to its origin."

Annoyed, the lawyer responded as follows

(Actual Letter):

"Your letter regarding title in Case No. 189156 has been received. I note
that you wish to have title extended further than the 194 years covered by
the present application. I was unaware that any educated person in this
country, particularly those working in the property area, would not know
that Louisiana was purchased, by the U.S., from France in 1803, the year of
origin identified in our application. For the edification of uninformed
FHA bureaucrats, the title to the land prior to U.S. Ownership was obtained
from France, which had acquired it by Right of Conquest from Spain.

The land came into the possession of Spain by Right of Discovery made in the
year 1492 by a sea captain named Christopher Columbus, who had been granted

Throughout history, humans have always been prone to accidents. Some, such as the exotic car crashes seen on this page, can be very expensive. But that's trivial compared to the truly expensive accidents. An accident is defined as "an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss". Our aim is to list the top 10 most expensive accidents in the history of the world as measured in dollars.

This includes property damage and expenses incurred related to the accident such as cleanup and industry losses. Many of these accidents involve casualties which obviously cannot be measured in dollar terms. Each life lost is priceless and is not factored into the equation. Deliberate actions such as war or terrorism and natural disasters do not qualify as accidents and therefore are not included in this list.

#10. Titanic

$150 Million

The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 10 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today's dollars).

#9. Tanker Truck vs Bridge

$358 Million

On August 26, 2004, a car collided with a tanker truck containing 32,000 liters of fuel on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany. The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in a huge explosion and fire which destroyed the load-bearing ability of the bridge. Temporary repairs cost $40 million and the cost to replace the bridge is estimated at $318 Million.

On September 12, 2008, in what was one of the worst train crashes in California history, 25 people were killed when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles. It is thought that the Metrolink train may have run through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging. Wrongful death lawsuits are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink.

#7. B-2 Bomber Crash

$1.4 Billion

Here we have our first billion dollar accident (and we're only #7 on the list). This B-2 stealth bomber crashed shortly after taking off from an air base in Guam on February 23, 2008. Investigators blamed distorted data in the flight control computers caused by moisture in the system. This resulted in the aircraft making a sudden nose-up move which made the B-2 stall and crash. This was 1 of only 21 ever built and was the most expensive aviation accident in history. Both pilots were able to eject to safety.

#6. Exxon Valdez

$2.5 Billion

The Exxon Valdez oil spill was not a large one in relation to the world's biggest oil spills, but it was a costly one due to the remote location of Prince William Sound (accessible only by helicopter and boat). On March 24, 1989, 10.8 million gallons of oil was spilled when the ship's master, Joseph Hazelwood, left the controls and the ship crashed into a Reef. The cleanup cost Exxon $2.5 billion.

#5. Piper Alpha Oil Rig

$3.4 Billion

The world's worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, it was the world's single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day.. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas.. There were 100 identical safety valves which were checked. Unfortunately, the technicians made a mistake and forgot to replace one of them. At 10 PM that same night, a technician pressed a start button for the liquid gas pumps and the world's most expensive oil rig accident was set in motion.

Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Billion in damages.

#4. Challenger Explosion

$5.5 Billion

The Space Shuttle Challenger was destroyed 73 seconds after takeoff due on January 28, 1986 due to a faulty O-ring. It failed to seal one of the joints, allowing pressurized gas to reach the outside. This in turn caused the external tank to dump its payload of liquid hydrogen causing a massive explosion. The cost of replacing the Space Shuttle was $2 billion in 1986 ($4.5 billion in today's dollars). The cost of investigation, problem correction, and replacement of lost equipment cost $450 million from 1986-1987 ($1 Billion in today's dollars).

#3. Prestige Oil Spill

$12 Billion

On November 13, 2002, the Prestige oil tanker was carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil when one of its twelve tanks burst during a storm off Galicia, Spain. Fearing that the ship would sink, the captain called for help from Spanish rescue workers, expecting them to take the ship into harbour. However, pressure from local authorities forced the captain to steer the ship away from the coast. The captain tried to get help from the French and Portuguese authorities, but they too ordered the ship away from their shores. The storm eventually took its toll on the ship resulting in the tanker splitting in half and releasing 20 million gallons oil into the sea.

According to a report by the Pontevedra Economist Board, the total cleanup cost $12 billion.

#2. Space Shuttle Columbia

$13 Billion

The Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space worthy shuttle in NASA's orbital fleet. It was destroyed during re-entry over Texas on February 1, 2003 after a hole was punctured in one of the wings during launch 16 days earlier. The original cost of the shuttle was $2 Billion in 1978. That comes out to $6.3 Billion in today's dollars. $500 million was spent on the investigation, making it the costliest aircraft accident investigation in history. The search and recovery of debris cost $300 million.

In the end, the total cost of the accident (not including replacement of the shuttle) came out to $13 Billion according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

The Chernobyl disaster has been called the biggest socio-economic catastrophe in peacetime history. 50% of the area of Ukraine is in some way contaminated. Over 200,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster. The death toll attributed to Chernobyl, including people who died from cancer years later, is estimated at 125,000. The total costs including cleanup, resettlement, and compensation to victims has been estimated to be roughly $200 Billion. The cost of a new steel shelter for the Chernobyl nuclear plant will cost $2 billion alone. The accident was officially attributed to power plant operators who violated plant procedures and were ignorant of the safety requirements needed.
